Being the new century, things have surely changed since the days of our grandparents and a popular trend on the rise is the act of "shaking up". During the 50's this was a definite no-no. Heck, a priest would probably give you 100 "Hail Mary's". Obviously alot has changed and so have the attitudes of many. Some may say we have become more liberal and free flowing, but is "shaking up" really all that bad?
Scott Stanley at the University of Denver and his colleagues studied couples who were in their first or second marriages to study the effects of living together prior to getting engaged and post engagement and the influences of the marital quality and the likelihood of divorce.
The results say that couples are less likely to stay commited if they move in together prior to being engaged, however if a couple decideds to cohabitate after becoming engaged, studies show that the effects are the same as moving in together post marriage, because the level of commitment is present.
Lets us know what you think....
